By using my Creative Color test, I have found that the world is basically divided into two groups, blue people and green people. The majority of men seem to be blue people. Probably only 30 percent of all people are green people. What this means is that if you were given a choice between blue and green, you would have a definite opinion of which you prefer. Blue people tend to be happier with peach, mauve, gray, beige, rust, and brown tones. Green people prefer brighter, more adventurous tones, such as purple, red, yellow, teal, and hot pink.
You may like both colors, but you will generally find that if you are a blue person, the shades of green that appeal to you have blue undertones. It is possible for blue and green people to like the same patterns, but in different color combinations. For the most part, blue people prefer calmer, less radical patterns. Green people like things with more ZING! An example of a "true blue" color combination would be yellow, blue, orange, and white, as in Portuguese chinaware. A "true green" color combination would be green, red, cream, and white. It is the combination of the overall color scheme that defines blue versus green.
Check your "yes" pile. Are you a blue or green person? Are the colors you chose bright or soft? Are they strong or subtle in feeling? This will tell a lot about your personal style. It is important to keep the hue or shade (strength or paleness) of the colors in balance. A really strong red will not balance with a very pale yellow. When decorating the intensity of each color must be at the same level.
