One positive use of color is to create a home that can actually make you feel cooler as the weather warms up. By using colors that are fresh and clean you will be able to effectively transform the temperature of your home. The new spring colors will be ethereal, spiritual, softer, even transparent influenced by nature – water, earth, sun, and sky.

Soothing aqua – reminiscent of glass block,

Capri Blue – a pale version of the Caribbean Sea

Vin Rouge – the color or Chianti wine, will inspire a fresh pastel.

Add a little mid-tone purple for a touch of sophistication.

We always identify white as the color of clean and fresh. But pure white can be tricky because the human eye has trouble adjusting to the contrast it gives to other items in the room. Instead try using one of the new near sheer whites with just a hint of color.

If you are like me and need a "punch" to your color scheme, add some complimentary colors such as red and coral. Or a little yellow – it’s finally taking its rightful place as the neutral of the season.

Color and pattern should be used to create the right environment in our individual spaces. By doing so, we will not only have a beautiful home, but we will have a life-enhancing home.

All of this translates into the most exciting time for wallcoverings. Historic patterns are being reproduced. Patterns are larger and more detailed than before. Even stripes are larger then I can remember in a long time--lots and lots of detail.

Wallpaper is no longer about just figuring out how much square footage and the number of rolls needed to cover it. Instead, we are detailing, cutting, pasting, combining and incorporating it with other elements such as paint and wainscoting -- into wonderful unique patterns designed for specific spaces—Very similar to what we saw in Victorian style design.

Ceilings also are becoming an important design element with the use of wallpaper. For the past several years we have seen beautiful architectural elements incorporated into our ceilings, now we are adding the detail of wallpaper.
